wine umbria Montefalco Foligno Italy "italian wines" docg doc "true italian wine"In pre-Roman ages, Greeks people calls my Country "Enotria", 'the Country of wine'.
It's the first reason because Greeks went in South of Italy and build "Magna Graecia".
In center of Italy, the native habitants made a 'mix' with greeks peoples and greek culture and becomes 'Etruschi'; in fact, the 3 first Kings of Rome were Etruschi.
Umbrie makes wines from time immemorial; one of these is Sagrantino: one of the most incredibles Italian's wine: why?
It makes in Montefalco, a little town near Foligno, in the middle of Umbrie, this wine comes from Montefalco rosso, a good wine makes by sangiovese's grown, but, after the grown gathered required 29 months aging before release.
After that we have 'Sagrantino di Montefalco', one of most important dessert - wine of Italy.
The production is very little ( 25 producers for 250 acres!!!); when I drink it for the first time I have had as a 'revelation'...
Its taste it's incredible. I have had 10 years and I din't like wine. After drink it, I start to drink wine (while eating). I think that if I never drink Sagrantino now I don't drink wine. I think to have had a luck; the wine is one of the best thing in the life; of course if you drink it a cup, max two every meal...
Sagrantino di Montefalco is not very famous out of Italy , it is very expansive and production is very little; in 1991 it has DOCG, the Best label for an Italian Wine.
I tip to You: if you want buy a REAL ITALIAN WINE to control if in the bottle has the labels D.O.C. or D.O.C.G. , is very important. ATTENTION: I know the wine sell in much Countries out of Italy, aren't Italians, but are copies !!!
